Part Time Library Assistant at the Delta Community Library.
20 to 30 hours per week (all day Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, alternate Saturdays, and on call). Applicants must be at least 18 years old; skilled in MS Office (or Google Drive), especially Word, able to quickly learn and uphold applicable Library policies and procedures to guide interactions with members and co-workers, understand confidentiality of records, and be able to multi-task. Valid driver’s license and phone required. Recent library, office, or classroom experience considered a plus as are strong written and oral communication skills, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Typical duties: responsible for processing, routine circulation tasks, handling materials with precision, cataloging materials using an online database; assisting patrons of all ages with computer and resource questions, copies, faxes, scans, and printing. Library Assistants also provide guidance on all Delta Library services, and must be familiar with technology. Other duties include running the summer reading program, behind-the-scenes functions to ensure materials are available to members, creating library displays, assisting with children’s programs, and event set up and take down.
